I have a doubt regarding cast verification.
My cast comes under Special Backward Class (Sp.B.C.) in the state of Maharashrta (Since 1995)
In the central List it is O.B.C.

I am working in a PSU. I have got the job through reservation category. The company wants to verify the cast.
In the state of Maharastra, the cast is SBC and n Central List its OBC.

How can get the cast certification / verification as OBC?

Hello Rashmi,

The concerned authorities need to check whether the caste name appears in the list of castes which is applicable to them (Central or State list).

if the PSU is central government run then they need to crosscheck with the central list of OBCs and
if it is Maharashtra government then they will have to crosscheck with the state list of SBCs.

Mostly the caste certificate specifies the caste name.

You might need two certificates mentioning the state/central category or the same certificate should mention both the categories.

but in any case you are eligible for reservation in both central and state run government undertakings.

General Direction for caste/tribe validity certificate in time

The State Government has constituted a Scrutiny Committee for verification of Caste Certificates issued by the Competent Authority. The office of the Scrutiny Committee is located at Konkan Bhavan, 6th Floor, Extension Building, Room No.71, New Bombay - 400 614. One has to carry the original OBC Caste Certificate and all supporting original documents which were submitted earlier while obtaining Caste Certificates from the Competent Authority. For the said purpose one has to make an application well in advance, in such form and in such manner as may be prescribed to the Scrutiny Committee for the verification of such Caste Certificates and issuance of a validity certificate.

The students who wish to apply for Medicine, Engineering, Architecture etc. under the OBC quota are required to attach the copy of the caste certificate at the time of admission to the said courses. However, at the time of selection to the said courses, one needs to submit validity certificate. It is therefore recommended that those students who are studying in F.Y.J.C or Std. XI ( Science ) should apply to the Scrutiny Committee well before 30th November for the relevant year.
