You might be staying in a particular state for long because of your job preferences. You originally belong to another state. How would you go about availing reservation facility?

This article is about explaining the inter-state reservation concept.

You/Your ancestors originally belong to State "A", due to work choice/marriage/other reasons you shifted to State "B".

Your children's are born in State "B".

But in this whole scenario, your origin does not get changed neither for your child or their children. it remains State "A" only.

You need to have original certificate of OBC from State "A" with you. But with this certificate you can avail reservation only in State "A".

What to do to avail reservation in State "B"?

There are certain criteria’s

1. Your caste should be listed in the central OBC list. Since State "B" is not your original state, you cannot avail local reservation there. You need to get benefit of "Central Reservation" (Which is basically in any state other than your original state)

2. You must have Central OBC Caste certificate. This might require showing your local caste certificate from State "A"

If your caste is not listed in the central list of that particular state, you cannot avail reservation.
